A really active morning at the lake a couple days A really active morning at the lake a couple days ago. The trees and reeds were full of movement with catbirds calling, red-winged blackbirds chasing dragonflies around the marsh, tree swallows zipping back and forth over the water, and a whole line of painted turtles out soaking up the sun. Spring has definitely settled in around here. 🐦🐢

Enjoy, and have a great day! 😊👏

For this Maine Minute we are at Winslow Park here in Freeport, Maine. 05-21-26.

Enjoy this minute or two as I stand in the water as the tide is slowly heading out.
I also paired it with some nice background music to add to the ambiance.

I hope this minute brings you a little bit of peace and relaxation to start your day, end your night or continue your day.
Either way I hope you have a great day. And as always make the best of it!

One of my favorite things about May is how quickly One of my favorite things about May is how quickly the landscape changes. A few weeks ago these trees were bare and now they’re filled with blossoms, birdsong and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks moving from branch to branch in the morning light. Spring in Maine doesn’t last long enough.

Enjoy, and have a great day! 😊👏

Good morning. Here's a Common yellowthroat from yesterday morning at Florida Lake.

These small warblers spend most of their time moving through thick brush and wetland edges, usually staying low and hidden. A little rain and soft light made for a beautiful morning to watch them and snap a few photos around the lake. 🌧️

Enjoy, and have a great day! 😊👏

There was a little rain around this morning, and the softer light really brought out the iridescent blues, greens, and purples in the feathers. Such a beautiful and underrated bird. 🌧️

Description excerpt from All About Birds:
“Common Grackles are blackbirds that look like they've been slightly stretched. They're taller and longer tailed than a typical blackbird, with a longer, more tapered bill and glossy-iridescent bodies.”

Enjoy! 😊👏
